Frequently Asked Questions

Can we prevent NStools from scanning a domain or IP?

Yes, NStools has provided 2 ways to block the analysis of a domain or subdomain as well as an IP.

Solution 1: DNS entry

By creating a TXT field for 'nstools' subdomain entry in your DNS zone, you can allow/disallow analyses very precisely for your domain, hosts and ips

You can create 'nstools' entry for a subdomain if you want to allow/disallow analyse for that subdomain
(ex: nstools.private.domain.tld)

# example for: domain.tld.

nstools 600 TXT "disallow=all; allow=www.domain.tld; allow=1.2.3.4"

Will disallow all analyses for domain.tld, .domain.tld and reverse ending by domain.tld and allow www.domain.tld and 1.2.3.4

# example for: domain.tld.

nstools 600 TXT "allow=all; disallow=ptr; disallow=mail.domain.tld; disallow=4.5.6.7"

Will allow all analyses for domain.tld except reverse IP, mail.domain.tld and 4.5.6.7

Solution 2: robots.txt

Like the DNS solution, you can create a robots.txt on the analysed IP, host or domain website.

Report to DNS solution for multiple possibilies

# robots.txt on: domain.tld

User-Agent: nstools

Disallow: /

Allow: /www.domain.tld

Allow: /1.2.3.4

Will disallow all analyses for domain.tld, .domain.tld and reverse ending by domain.tld and allow www.domain.tld and 1.2.3.4

Is there a limitation on the number of tests I can do per day?

There is currently no limitation on the number of scans you can do. It is possible that it evolves in time but it is not currently planned in the development of the application.

Do I need to pay to use NsTOOLS?

NStools is completely free. It's possible that one day new features will pay off, but that's not the order of the day.

I found a bug. How can I contact you?

You can tell us about an analysis problem using the contact form
